Take a Bough Tree Care Ltd. is seeking an Arborist for our contracts in Vancouver Lower Mainland. It’s a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position, $37.00/hour paid on a bi-weekly basis. Overtime compensation is based on the current BC Employment Standards Act (1.5 times the regular wage paid if the daily hours exceed 8 hours or the weekly hours exceed 40 hours). Two weeks of paid vacation each year.

Location of employment: Various locations in Lower Mainland

Start date: As soon as possible

Job duties:

  • Use knowledge of horticulture and landscaping techniques to ensure properties are maintained at a high level of quality with close attention to detail.
  • Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease, and apply various treatments such as pruning, spraying, repairing damaged areas and injecting with treatment solutions.
  • Identify plants, select rigging gear, and have knowledge of how to fall, limb and buck trees, chip brush, cut wood and clean-up sites after tree care operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints;
  • Providing groundwork support for tree trimming operations, including operation of a chain saw and the chipping and loading of trimmings and brush;
  • Assist with job-site set-up, and debris removal;
  • Operate landscape maintenance equipment as directed;
  • Perform routine maintenance work on equipment;
  • Source and order parts needed for repairs and maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Completed secondary education;
  • Must have at least 3 years of Arborist Technician experience or combination of experience and education in agronomy, forestry, arboriculture, horticulture, landscaping or landscape technology;
  • Valid driver’s license is required;
  • Good knowledge of tree biology and pathology;
  • The ability to read plans and maps;
  • Ability to work from heights;
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions;
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English;
  • Must have an interpersonal skill that allows communicating effectively with clients and other workers, be flexible, team player organized.
