Houston Landscapes Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Foreman for its location in Vancouver, BC. It’s a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position, $32.50h – $34.00/hour (depending on experience) paid bi-weekly. Overtime compensation is based on the current BC Employment Standards Act (1.5 times the regular wage paid if the daily hours exceed 8 hours or the weekly hours exceed 40 hours).

Job duties:
- Assist with daily inspections of landscaped areas to ensure overall presentation and condition meet Houston Landscapes’ standards and quality expectations.
- Support the Foreman in prioritizing horticultural tasks and coordinating daily work assignments.
- Help coordinate the activities of ground maintenance workers and assist with maintaining work records and logs.
- Assist with estimating labour and material requirements for projects.
- Support assigning duties to workers and help train and mentor new employees.
- Assist in overseeing the planning and construction of landscaped environments, including ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, lawns and softscape features.
- Participate in and assist with the installation of paving stone patios, walkways, driveways, ponds and water features, as well as flagstone and other natural stone patios, walkways and pool decks.
- Assist with organizing and overseeing site excavation and grading.
- Attend meetings as required and provide updates to the Foreman or management team.
- Act as a point of support on site in the Foreman’s absence and help ensure work is completed safely and efficiently.
Requirements:
- Must have completed high school.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a Tractor, Bobcat and Pick-up truck.
- Must have at least two years of experience as a ground maintenance worker.
- Must have the ability to supervise 3 – 5 people.
- Must be willing to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be a team player, have client focus, and have excellent oral communication.
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
